Frequently Asked Acupuncture Clinic Questions

Please reach us at contact@yourhealingpoint.com if you cannot find an answer to your question.

Your initial appointment is 60-90 minutes and begins with a comprehensive health intake—reviewing your medical history, lab work, lifestyle assessment, and goals. We perform Chinese Medicine diagnostics such as tongue and pulse reading, and often include orthopedic, functional medicine, and nutritional evaluation. Based on your needs, you may receive potentially adjunct therapies like cupping therapy, Gua Sha, TENS therapy, electro-acupuncture or herbal consultation.

Our practice uses ultra‑thin, sterile, disposable needles. Most people experience minimal to no discomfort.  Some feel a light prick or tingling called de qi, which actually indicates the Qi is moving.   We work with you through each needle placed, and if at any point you feel discomfort, we promptly adjust the treatment.

Treatment frequency is individualized so it is a very hard thing to answer without doing a full consultation, by understanding your lifestyle and health history.  Acute issues may resolve within 4–6 sessions, while chronic or autoimmune conditions typically benefit from 6–12+ treatments, it’s also not uncommon for patients to experience significant relief or noticeable improvement after just one visit.

  • Wear loose, comfortable clothing for easy access to acupuncture points, but if you forget or not able to no worries, we have sheets available to cover up with as well.

  • Eat at some point during the day prior to your visit.

  • Bring any recent lab results, medical history, or supplement list.

  • Avoid alcohol, excessive caffeine, and heavy exercise right before the appointment.

Many clients feel relaxed or energized. Some may experience mild soreness, fatigue, or discomfort at cupping or needle sites—these are normal signals of healing. Stay hydrated and rest as needed.  Avoid heavy lifting, or cardio workouts after your acupuncture treatments to ensure the treatment gets the best results.

TCM modalities like acupuncture, cupping, and herbal therapy are safe when practiced by licensed professionals. Rare side effects may include light bruising, temporary fatigue, or mild light‑headedness. Our herbal formulas are natural, professional‑grade and monitored for quality and safety.
